At least one civilian died and 11 people were injured after a car bomb exploded in front of a police station in northeastern Colombia, authorities reported on Tuesday.
The attack took place around midnight in Los Patios, a border town with Venezuela that is part of the metropolitan area of Cúcuta. It is believed that among the injured are police officers, The Associated Press reported.
Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella stated that the government will pursue those responsible. “Colombia will not give in to terrorism,” the president wrote in a post on X.

In August, an explosion in front of a police station in Cúcuta injured 11 police officers and killed a police dog. Authorities attributed that attack to the National Liberation Army (ELN), the largest rebel group still operating in Colombia.
The Cúcuta area has long been contested by drug cartels and rebel groups vying for control of smuggling routes to Venezuela.
