Iranian authorities stated this Wednesday that the United States is seeking a “dignified exit” from the region, amid a deadlock in the war and after the 60-day plan to reach an agreement between Washington and Tehran expired without new negotiations planned.
“In the new regional order, the intervention of foreign powers in relations between states is rapidly decreasing,” said the head of Iran’s negotiating team and Parliament speaker, Mohamed Baqer Qalibaf, during his visit to Iraq.
“The United States is seeking a dignified exit from the region, and the ‘from the river to the sea’ project of the Zionist entity is nothing but a chimerical dream,” emphasized Qalibaf, who framed his trip to the neighboring country as a step to “strengthen the new order established in the Middle East region” without “foreign interference.”
These statements come amid the cross rhetoric between Washington and Tehran after the expiration of the 14-point memorandum of understanding, which contemplated a truce to negotiate a final agreement within 60 days.

U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed that “there are no talks or dialogue” planned with Iran and that the naval blockade over the Strait of Hormuz remains in effect after the agreement signed last June expired.
In the absence of diplomatic progress, the White House chief has intensified his messages to Tehran to “surrender” and even published an image declaring the strait as “new territory” of the United States, in light of the control Washington claims over the strategic passage.
