Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky, has announced that his military forces have hit a military plant of the Avitek company with cruise missiles in the Russian region of Kirov, without any confirmed fatalities so far and without Russia having confirmed the bombing, which occurred after a night of numerous Ukrainian attacks against more than a dozen territories of the Russian Federation.
Zelensky, on social media, has explained that an unspecified number of FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles have impacted the Avitek plant, which is located about 1,200 kilometers from the border with Ukraine. The president accompanied his message with images of a huge structure in flames and obscured by a large column of smoke.
The company manufactures products for military, dual-use, and civilian purposes, including air defense systems; aircraft components; ejection seats for pilot rescue; aircraft lifting systems and winches; beam supports; and other aviation equipment.

Avitek, subject to sanctions from the United States, Ukraine, and other countries, also participates in the joint production of Tor surface-to-air missile systems. For the Ukrainian president, it has been a legitimate target: “It supplies components for the occupier’s aircraft and missile systems, which are used, in particular, in massive attacks against our cities and communities,” he commented.
The night of Ukrainian attacks, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense, has so far resulted in 571 drones intercepted and destroyed over regions such as Belgorod, Bryansk, Vladimir, Kaluga, Kursk, Leningrad, Novgorod, Moscow, Krasnodar, or Crimea, as well as the waters of the Black Sea. It is the second most extensive of the year, after the one on June 26, which involved 660 drones.
